Mehron Makeup is an American professional cosmetics brand founded in 1927 by Mehron Melik, who purchased a small specialty cosmetics manufacturer in New York City and set up shop in the heart of the Broadway theater district. From its earliest days, the brand catered to performers in theater, vaudeville, opera, ballet, and silent film, with Mehron's staff of "Mehron Ladies" visiting backstage nightly to introduce products to entertainers. The brand quickly became the go-to makeup for the era's biggest stars, including Lucille Ball, Elizabeth Taylor, Lena Horne, Barbara Streisand, and Mia Farrow. In 1975, Martin Melik, son of the founder, took ownership and modernized the brand's formulas, manufacturing, packaging, and marketing. Today, Mehron is a global leader in professional performance cosmetics, supplying artists in over 65 countries. Its product line spans face and body paint, Special FX, stage and screen, cosplay, Halloween, and pro beauty, with more than 1,200 SKUs — all cruelty-free and many vegan, manufactured in the USA. Major productions including Cirque du Soleil, The Metropolitan Opera, and Blue Man Group rely on Mehron products.
